Firestudio Mobile Cutting Out

I own a Firestudio Mobile, had it for about three years now, for the last couple of years I have been having trouble with it, when I'm in a studio session it cuts out every now and then, it's ok if I have it very low but when cranking it it will run ok for a bit then the sound starts kind of coughing and spluttering for a few seconds then cuts out. After about 10 seconds it is ok again but then after 15 minutes or so it will start popping again then cut out again.

I thought it might be my monitors (Mackie MR8 Mk2's) but I find it highly unlikely they would both be having the same experience at exactly the same time in parallel. I have disconnected the left and right cables in turn to see if it was one side but both sides do it so it must be central, i.e the audio interface. I have gone to the Universal control to update the driver which it says I already am running the most recent one, this problem has occurred on three different computers, windows 8, windows 10, and my Macbook Pro. It has happened with Logic Pro and Studio One Pro v3.

It is happening so common now that it is getting hard to mix any tracks without the constant cutting out. The light on the front of the unit remains blue, I am out of ideas.
