Is it possible, and has it been done, to use an RML16AI as stage box/mon mixer and control FOH/mons via a laptop/pad/other wireless device(s) and have a 16.4.2ai pull in dry input signals via AVB network and do a completely separate mix just for the broadcast feed?

The radio station I work for has been doing lots of shows recently in our courtyard and a good majority have also been broadcasted live...but that has shown some limitations in getting a good mix just for the broadcast feed...FOH and monitors has been no problem. We have made it work by transporting audio back into the studios a number of ways [trying different things as we do each show: subgroups, mains copy, broadcast aux mix(limits our onstage monitoring though), etc...] but, again, the mixes have been really vocal and "leads" heavy... :/

We are considering obtaining an RML16AI as the input box and mixing the "house" with that via a wireless (or a laptop wired into the network, just the same) device and using the hardwired LAN to transport the same audio/control to our performance submixer inside the studio for the split mix...

Doable? Any one done it yet?

Besides StudioLive AVB mix systems and using Dante related interfacing through the purchase of a Dante card (which unfortunately is not a true "split" because you are controlling preamps on the designated RM/Console mixer), an Analog split is the only way to go in instances where you need complete control of both the Preamp and DSP processing in two, discrete different places.
