I have an instrument part full of MIDI notes and decide to cut out a section in the arranger page and copy that section to a later part of the song. If I then decide I want to trim the beginning of this new section backwards in time because I want a few previous MIDI notes or extend the end to reveal more notes, the rest of the midi notes (which were in the original) are now no longer in this new part and so my only option is to repeat the process but copy more of the original section. Is there a way to be able to reveal all MIDI notes even when only copying a section of the original part? If I trim the end on a midi part, then copy it, I am able to extend the copy back out to reveal the rest of the midi notes contained in that part, but copying or moving a section from the middle of a part seems to not allow me to do this.

To make myself clearer, if I were to do the same thing with an audio event (select part of the event and copy/move it to another part of the song), the copied event will still include all of the audio from the original event. I can extend the beginning or end to reveal more of the audio. I'm trying to achieve the same thing with an instrument part, but appear to be unable to achieve this.

Many thanks.

Hi Adam,

Not currently, no.  Splitting or copying sections of midi clips as you described above is literal and only contains the notes in the section being copied.

Feel free to make a feature request for the other behavior it if doesn't already exist.   http://answers.presonus.com/studio-one-feature-requests

The crazy thing is I remember this being possible...that was one of the reasons why I decided to buy a license.
