Lots of people talk about de-essers, but a de-plosive tool would be more valuable to me.  It's especially useful for spoken word with sensitive podium mics, but also comes in handy for vocalists using mics up close.  This could also be implemented in a de-esser with a variable frequency control.  Another possibility that could help is a different style of key-filter on the compressor.  For example, instead of a selecting a general frequency band, a HPF or LPF could be used so that all frequencies above 90 hz goes though with no compression, and as soon as something hits below that the compressor kicks in.  The standard compressor would also need a faster attack to really make this work.  The current attack is too slow and some of the plosive gets through.  Roland has implemented this really well in their app which allows me to really squash the "pop" without affected the tone of the vocal.
