When I add melodyne to a track to edit audio, melodyne shows up empty.

One simple idea here.  Melodyne doesn't always open in the right point in the song. For example, your target vocals may start in measure 30 but Melodyne is showing you something in measure 15.  Scroll left and right in Melodyne to get where you intend.
