How do I change the license from Splice Rent-to-Own to a full professional one?

I was using Splice rent-to-own plan for my Studio One but I bought the full licence of professional on Black Friday sale. I tried to activate the new license I got but I just couldn't. I uninstalled and reinstalled Studio One and now it doesn't even open saying "invalid Splice license". It just doesn't give me any option to get out of Splice OEM and activate the new license.

Please help me asap. I use the program almost everyday.

You have to uninstall and remove the registry key. Try this https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/studio-one//how-to-completely-remove-studio-one-windows

i´ve got the same problem. Any news about it? You can upgrade the oem license in your account...it sayd it worked, but it´s still showing splice oem in s1.

I found the solution!

You have to remove the splice folder.

It´s AppData/SpliceSettings

If you don´t see this folder, activate "show hidden files" in your Explorer View Settings.

Ok, so I am on a similiar situation but on a mac.

I bought the full license for Studio one, but now I can't even boot my studio once, because it says "Your splice license for studio one is invalid". So which files (and from where) do I have to remove in order to be able to register my full license?

Solution for Mac users:
just delete the license file in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Support/Splice/ folder.

johannesdittmar is right on.

I have waited until my then current subscription of Splice OEM to see if it could be updated automatically - because it looked like I could update OEM key in my Presonus account - but no luck. So basically it's Splice, not Studio One. Uninstalling Studio One 'completely' didn't work.

I  was able to find a working solution for my Mac.
These are the steps I had to take to find the hidden splice folder with the old license so I could delete it.

  1. Search “Splice” in the applications folder, even if it’s uninstalled.
  2. Click the + button on the right hand side of the screen next to the Save button.
  3. Under the drop down menu that appears choose “System Files” & “ Are Included”.
  4. Hidden splice folders should appear and one of them has a license folder inside it.
  5. I opened the license folder, found the studio one 4 license file and deleted it.  I was good to go after that.

I know this post is quite old now but I guess more people are searching for the solution to this...

My problem with deleting the splice folders was that it returns after a while and I have to delete the lic-file again. This was quite exhausting so...

On PC I did like this:

Open the C:\Users\-yourusername-\AppData\Local\SpliceSettings\license\ folder and edit the studioone4.lic file with notepad. Remove all the stuff in there and save it. Then right-click the file and check the write protect box. Done. Now you should be able to start Studio One and it doesn't care about splice. win-win.

Good luck!

I have found myself in the same issue today on a Windows machine. I have followed the suggestions in this thread and I am now in a mess.
I have first uninstalled and reinstalled S1, but as stated here it makes not difference.
Then I have uninstalled both S1 and Splice. After that I have reinstalled S1 and I have manage to activate S1 using my personal license key.

After I have have reinstalled Splice back the Activation window is again overwritten by Splice though and I cannot see or select my license any longer.

The last solution proposed here by karlsvegare1 works

Open the C:\Users\-yourusername-\AppData\Local\SpliceSettings\license\ folder and edit the studioone4.lic file with notepad. Remove all the stuff in there and save it. Then right-click the file and check the write protect box. Done. Now you should be able to start Studio One and it doesn't care about splice. win-win.

But it is definitely a dirty hack.

What I find really deplorable is not seeing anyone from PreSonus commenting on this thread. I am a new S1 customer, is this the level of support I should expect to see from now on? If this is the case I already regret my purchase.
Partnering with Splice is a decision that PreSonus has taken and they are not providing a clear solution for this problem? Simply unacceptable!

The most incredible and utterly annoying problem that I have come across though, is that one of the most important VST3 plugins I have, Reason Studios, is not seen anymore by S1. It was working perfectly when I had S1 installed through Splice, but since I have uninstalled and reinstalled S1 the plugin is not found by the VST scanner anymore (I can promise that is still in the VST3 folder, it has not moved an inch from where it was previously).
This has made S1 simply unusable for me.
On top of that also my MIDI keyboard has been reset and now it is appearing with a different name.
I had to reconfigure it completely and this change has affected also other DAWs I have installed like Reaper.

Thank you for your silence and for your acquiescent partnership with Splice that cause all these issue PreSonus.
As new customer I am really impressed!

Solution for Mac OS Big Sur (slightly different from the one above): just remove the file ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Support/Splice/license/studioone5.lic and start Studio One again, It'll ask for a new license key.

If you need to remove Splice subscription .license file for normal Studio one workflow, remove file from MacintoshHD \ Users \ YouUSERNAME \ Library \ Audio \ Plug-ins \ Support \ Splice \ License (delete this f@@@ng folder) Have a Good day!

If you get this message,

1- log out of the Splice app

2- remove to splice app

3- open up Studio One.

4- Studio one activation click

5- active with presonus sphere

You should be able to log out of your PreSonus account if necessary and login to the PreSonus account you used with your Studio One Rent to Own program with Splice or sign up with a new PreSonus account.

I tried all the solutions. only this way i solved the problem
