If I have a studiolive 16r, can I attach a second rack mount mixer as a stagebox or does this only work with the console as the master?

You can use another rack mixer as a stagebox, but remember, you are still limited to 16 total channels of mixing. Adding another 16 channel rack mixer will get you to 32 physical connections, but you can only use 16 of them!
