Question

Whenever I export any song, the mixdown is consistently out of tune, from what I can tell a bit more than a full step. I've tried transposing it up in the software, but then it becomes out of tune by a very small bit and when I play along to it it sounds dissonant and terrible.

Are you making a CD of the mix down and THAT is what is out of tune?  Check the bit sample rate.  I believe that your mix down has to be at 44.1, not 44kHz.
