I bought SL 32 a few weeks to use it as DAW controller and as a mixer. I want to have 32 faders, and there is no other controller. but SL 32.
To my gray disappointment,  SL 32 has an elementary integration with the Fat channel of Studio 4.
I am very surprised this DAW function cannot function with studio one. I was not expecting this.
So I am ready to send it back.
Any one has worked with any other mixers on DAW mode ( Yamaha, Mackie,soundcraft,etc...).
Faderport  all though is not a mixer it has 16 faders, but then again does not have layers, so it only controls 16. Ai18s does not supported through Studio one 4 (only Studion 3).
Thanks for reading. I will appreciate any ideas.
Regards
Anastasios

So the integration as shown in this video isn't enough?

just want to make sure you properly explored it before sending it back and getting a controller that you'll have to manually map to fat channel anyway

Anastasios:

DAW mode does control plugins, but if you don't have somebody showing you how, it can be tough to see.

Live mode is also very cool, if you want to sum, patch in other converters you like and also, use SL3 Fat Channel plugins as is.

Live mode works very well with other DAWs too and gives you the kind of Fat Channel control, I think you are looking for in DAW mode.

In Live mode though, be sure to keep the Universal Control window open, so you can easily see and select the plugins.

However, if you want to use the Fat Channel in DAW mode; insert that plugin in StudioOne, or at SL3 Channel Insert screen and then, if they are not mapped to your liking, assign the controls on the SL3 you want to use instead.*

*To MAP plugins in StudioOne:
- Open a plugin and move the dial/button you want to control with the mouse
- Press Alt 'm' on the computer keyboard
- Rotate the SL3 Fat Channel control knob/button you want to assign it to and repeat.

That routine grabs the Fat Channel plugin dial and maps it to knobs at SL3 Fat Channel control area.  Mapping should also work for all 3rd party plugins too.

I believe there are only 2 - Fat Channel Page screens at present for the StudioLive 3 desk.  Presonus may add others later.

Here are some DAW mode videos.

If you can, call Presonus tech support and give them a try before you return the unit.
If you can't call, email them - I'm sure they would do all they can to help, but be sure to let them know how much time you have left to return the unit, so they can prioritize the ticket.

Maybe your vision for the use of the desk, is still viable.

Good luck,
Michael
