Instrument tracks recording ahead of beat, how to fix?

I am trying to record a bass line by playing it on my PS-49, rather than entering the notes in the piano roll. As I am recording, it sounds great, but when I play it back, the notes are a fraction of a beat ahead of where they should be. I then have to move them to where I want them. I tried turning quantize on and off, but it made no difference. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a setting somewhere that fixes this?

HP Notebook, Windows 10

Studio One 3 Artist, Audiobox USB, PS-49

At what latency are you working? We (humans) often compensate for latency introduced by the ASIO buffers, which result in early placed MIDI events. It's a good idea to keep your ASIO buffer size as small as possible when playing VST Instruments to prevent this from happening. I usually work at a ASIO buffer size of 128 @ 44.1Khz (roughly 3ms to 4ms). But you'll have to find the right balance between what your system can handle and what works best for you.
