Question

If I have drum parts that are nudged slightly off the grid and I want to copy those events to a new part of the song is there an easy way to do that other than clipping some part of the regions to a barline start and then copying from there?

I typically do it the way you describe (split off the amount of the start so the clips begin on the grid).  That way when you paste them on the grid again, they are still in time.  Then you just pull them back out (to the left).
