It is not possible to open multiple windows of UC Surface or QMix, because it makes no sense. None of this kind of software allow the use of multiple windows.
How to patch channels is explained in the use manual of your mixer and the UC Surface manual. You find all other manuals and documentations in the download area of your mixer, which can be accessed via https://www.presonus.com/support/downloads. Patching works the way that you select the INPUT SOURCE of your channel rather than "sending" signal from one channel to another. Only the Series III consoles have separate inputs for talkback, not the rack mixers. The manuals explain how to use talkback.
"Fader Locate" is a function which the mixers without moving faders had. The LED strips on the mixer indicated where the faders were located.
