I installed Universal on a Mac mini and a Macbook air and it worked that I had updated to Catalina using the method posted by 'buddybudsen'   The firewire connection from the my Thunderbolt monitor still works too with Catalina.  I wonder if it would be possible to extract the Universal Control .pkg file and manually instally using this method on a brand new Mac that shipped with Catalina?  Obviously from your post I know where the .kext file goes, but not sure where the other files go.  Does anyone know where the other files go?  A new 6 core mac mini is looking good and although my FireStudio Project is dated, I love the pre amps, and also love the fact that all the inputs (other than midi I/O) are on the front.  My buddy has a new interface and all the inputs (other than 2) are on the back and it is a royal pain in the 'you know 'what' once you put the interface into a rack accessing the inputs on the back.
