Question

Sometimes I have to find a channel that is available to record stereo mics. It may not always be 1-2, 3-4 etc. It might be 1-5 or 8-3. I would like to request that the stereo input on the Audio I/O setup matrix be unlinked so we can make a stereo input out of ANY of the inputs on my interfaces. I hope this makes sense.

Not sure I agree.  You're asking for trouble when you separate twins.

Why not change your routing *into* studio one (with your patch bay or similar)?
