Question

I'm a brand new user of studio one pro 3 (trying to switch from Logic). but this issue is very very frustrating. Every time i try to import a movie from computer inside.  it gives me " unknown format " message. when i read the movie from a pendrive, it works flawlessly . what could it be?

i have latest  quicktime installed, have changed the name of the file simplifying it, etc etc. nothing works.

In the same computer. Ableton Live 9 imports  and run mp4  without a problem

 Surface pro 4 windows 10 pro 64 bits, different interfaces. 8 giga Ram Etc.

Make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime For Windows and also try a few different formats. Not all video files with the same file extender are the same codec.

yes all installed, no solution. have tested in other formats mpg, avi. No luck. Discovered others talking about thi issue no solution either. posted a support request.. no answer till now

Find really odd that reading movies from an external pendrive all formats seem to work. and ableton live on the same computer got no issues importing the same movies from whatever internal or external drive source.

Since my surface pro 4 has 1 usb slot it's very uncomfortable to waste it on a pendrive for movie
