In IO setup, I am unable to assign lines 3-8 hardware channels on my 1824C in Studio One 5 Pro, only lines 1 and 2. I can add an additional input and assign either stereo or mono as normal, the M or LR appears but is greyed out, When I hit apply (which is when the setting is supposed to turn blue), the settings are removed.  None of the settings, even the accepted settings for Lines 1 and 2 are blue.

I am seeing the same issue. I have Alexis IO4, Studio One 5 running on a MAC.
In Garage Band the IO4 inputs are correctly routed and show as Ch or I/P 1,2,3,4. I can map each input on the IO4 correctly into Garage Band.
On Studio One the inputs show up as Surround Sound, like Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left and Rear Right. Only 1 and 2 work.

If I try and map input 3 (eg displayed as Rear Left) then it just goes blank after selecting it.
IO4 is my Input and Output device and Ch 1 and 2 are fine, its just I cannot map or use Ch 3 or 4.

MIC Security permissions are correct.

MAC Audio MIDI also shows the Surround Sound labels, but Garage Band manages to map them OK. What am I missing here?

I am having this same problem on the Scarlett 18i20.  When I try to assign inputs anywhere but 1&2 the M is a grayed out dark blue instead of the lighter blue and when I hit save the changes go away.  Somebody please help!!

I just went through the same issue (lost 3-8 outputs while making some changes to my speaker configuration. I am adding ltm and rtm to my 5.1 configuration. When I restarted the computer, the1824c, and my Dolby test project, all I had was 1 & 2 out. No matter what I did (changed everything back to the way it was) no 3-8.

My solution:

1. reset the 1824c to factory by turning it off, then back on. When the power light goes to blue, immediately push the line button 5 times rapidly.

2. Open the Universal Controller program. When I did so, the 1824c needed an update. Do the update.

This reset my 1824c, and all the outputs worked again. Hopefully it will work next time for me and work for you now!
