StudioLive 16.0.2 with firewire connected to PC with Win10, Capture 3 won't record

I have connected a StudioLive 16.0.2 to my Win10 PC using an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter, an Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Firewire 800 adapter, and then a Firewire 800 - 400 cable. Everything works fine the first time I connect and start up, Capture 3 records audio.

However, If I then shut down my PC to use it for something else and then reconnect, it to the mixer, there is no audio input into Capture 3 and it won't start recording. When I press the Quick Record button it just shows 0:00:00 and no audio input. The mixer appears in the list of input devices and the driver startup info looks OK, also the sampling frequency setting in the mixer displays "Firewire", but there no sound in Capture 3 and it never starts rolling from 0:00:00.

The weirdest thing is that I have tried this with two different computers a few minutes apart and they show the exact same behaviour, first time on each machine works flawlessly, but then it won't work again.

I have shut down everything, waited for some time and then restarted, tried all kinds of combinations of startup sequences and timings, aswell as reinstalling the software and drivers, to no avail. Finally I tried moving the cable to the other Firewire socket on the mixer, but then the PC won't see the mixer at all and nothing works. Help! :-)
