When "no overlap when editing events" is checked and a track is transformed to an audio track/freeze or frozen, the tails keep the next clip/pattern from playing until the tail dies.  As a result, "no overlap when editing events" should be disabled internally when rendering audio so the rendered track sounds the same as the MIDI Track regardless of this setting.
