Question

I have a late 2014 Mac mini and just purchased a usb c 1810. I would prefer hooking it up via thunderbolt since I have the open port. My mini has Thunderbolt 2. I got the Apple thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and a thunderbolt 2 cable and the interface wasn’t recognized. It was recognized going through the usb A port. I’m trying to figure out whether I can hook the interface up through thunderbolt 2 port or if I got a bad cable?
