I was just watching Gregor's video on loopback tests and recording offsets and I was just wondering how many users out there are unaware of this and, as a result, have been recording audio that's ever so slightly out of time this entire time!
This was certainly me for many years, and after recently reinstalling my system, it took me a few hours before I realised I hadn't repeated the process!
This seems like a sort of necessary calibration step that everyone should be aware of and should do when first installing Studio One or setuping up a new audio device, so I was thinking it might be a good idea if S1 had a "start up wizard" that instructed you on how to perform these tests and make any other setup decisions, etc. Of course a nice big "skip" button should be there for anyone who doesn't care about a few samples and just wants to get down to creating.
It would probably also be a good idea to be able to save different profiles of recording offsets for difference devices. I have a Studio 68c, but also sometimes record using my Line 6 Helix as an interface, or my Korg Kronos. It would be cool for the offsets to change automatically when you switch audio devices.
