Question

When plugging in a functional dynamic mic via xlr into channel 3/4 on AR8 mixer, i get no signal - dead channel. however when plugging in 1/4" piano into line-in on 3/4, i do get signal

Any thoughts ?

That sounds like a hardware issue and might need repair. Create a support ticket, they should be able to help you out.
