Steps to reproduce:

1. Drag an instance of Impact > Chillout Garage to a new track
2. Drag another instance of Impact > Chillout Garage to the same track
3. Click to Combine
4. In the Multi Instrument view click the C2 on the keys
5. Weird playback...

It does not have to be Chillout Garage nor does it have to be the same kit. Seems to be an issue with Impact.

What is the benefit of combining two instances of the same Instrument on the same track?  in other words, what are you trying to accomplish?  Is this for layering?  Like having a Piano instrument followed by a String section instrument so you hear both when playing?

Yes, layering. I have been combining two Mai Tai instruments for example without any problems. Isn't this the exact use case for the Combine feature?
