I am trying to get my Roland TD17KVX to work in Studio One using the drum sounds from the Roland.
I used the tutorial and did the set up to set the device settings for my Steinberg, I initially tried using the midi in/out as a virtual instrument. I can get it to play drum sounds, but the latency is absurd, and quite frankly, the sample instrument drum set sounds are terrible sounding.
I am now trying to use the output from the Roland. I’ve tried the Roland mono out into my Steinberg with a 1/4” cable, as well as the mono out via 1/4” cable into a Simmons drum amp with XLR out into the Steinberg. In both cases, I can hear the drum sounds at the Steinberg by using headphones connected to the Steinberg. I cannot get Studio One to register the signal at all.
is this a function of me being at the base version of Studio One or is it not possible to do what I am trying to do? I did remember to turn on record and monitor for the track and it still does not register incoming signal.
