Hey everyone. I'm new to the world of controllers and vsts, but haven't had many problems until recently. I cannot figure out how to set up a Novation LaunchKey49 as a midi controller in Studio One 3. I've tried adding it as a keyboard, and a control surface, each time to no avail. It doesn't automatically recognize the device when I add it (like it did before with M-Audio and Alesis controllers) and the MIDI Learn feature (which I hadn't used before, but I saw suggested on another forum) does not respond at all.

Furthermore, I have downloaded Dexed, a DX7 VST, purchased the necessary add-ons to employ VSTs in Studio One 3, and I cannot get it to run within the software. There is relatively little to no information on anything related to Dexed that I can find other than the sound samples, so I'm at a loss here on the technical aspects of getting it working both on its own and in Studio One 3. Any and all help that anyone can throw my way would be very much appreciated.

You have to break this down into two seperate processes.

1) Getting your midi controller to work

2) Getting Dexed to work

As for 1) There are tons of how-to videos on youtube. Just do a search

As for 2) Are you on Win or OS X? If on win make sure you install the correct version of the plugin. 64-bit plug for S1 64 bit and 32-bit plug for S1 32-bit. Also make sure the plugin is correctly installed to the folder(s) in which S1 is searching for plugins on startup

You can find detailed information on how to properly set up your midi controller in Studio One via the manual that can be found under the Help Menu inside of S1.
