This drum grid editor is horrendous, When changing the note value per row in the pattern editor, it changes what i just entered. and doesn't leave the notes in as hit. It moves the notes. The whole reason for needing that per row is so you enter what you need then switch it back to a different value without moving the notes you just entered.
Impossible to use this thing. needs a complete overhaul. Especially if a person needs versatility in drum entering with the pencil. I cannot use this for drum pencil midi notes. Have to use pro tools for even preproduction too it seems.
The main problem is this: for metal drum production there are three main issues which need a very efficient and visually friendly drum editor: 1) there is a tremendous amount of pieces and variations in extreme metal production that there needs to be efficient grouping and sub-grouping and color coding 2) the grid itself needs to be very fluid and rapidly adjustable for any row to be able to insert whatever wherever, 3) and even subtle visual vectors on the grid so you know where you are.
Problem is the reason i bought this Studio one stuff was just so i can use Virus Control software for my Virus for preproduction because that thing is extremely simple. but Access never went for AAX. And using a VST wrapper to AAX completely messes up pro tools because of the Access over USB connection to integrate with Virus control.
So now i have no clue what to do. I mean i can go back and forth but not intuitive or creative-friendly to do that between DAWs... I made a feature request for this new drum grid editor (which was maybe bit overboard with note shapes part perhaps). but I strongly doubt that anybody involved in this software understands the needs for a very versatile drum editor for extreme metal drum production. it seems this Studio one stuff is more for electronic music or hip hop beats.
