Why can't I open Notion 2 files with Notion 6.8.2.18133

Error message says:

"Notion 2 files cannot be opened by this version of Notion."

This is really inconvenient.  Do I need to load Notion 2?  If so, how do I port the Notion 2 file to Notion 6?
