I'm finishing up an album on what has been a stable system. A few days ago I started up cakewalk on my laptop when I was away from my office/studio. I wanted to check a setting and didn't plan on using the audio function. Later when I tried to start Cakewalk I see that there is a driver problem. I went to check and I see that my laptop has a Realtek card with an ASIO driver which is selected. My Presonus Sudio 2/6 drivers are there but greyed out. The only option shown is to use the Realtek driver. When I deselect the Realtek driver, hit apply, and it just reverts back to Realtek.

I've reinstalled the Presonus drivers multiple times, disabled realtek, reinstalled Cakewalk, nothing seems to work. I ran Windows Media Player and it works fine with the laptop speakers but when I switch the speaker output to Studio 2/6 I can see it's playing but no sound through the Sudio 2/6. This used to work fine. This tells me that the drivers have a problem and it's not just Cakewalk.

When reinstalling the Presonus drivers I got a message stating "The installer is unable to configure the firewall because a third party firewall (McAfeer) is installed on this system. This may limit the network connectivity of this application." The misspelling of McAfee is a concern but I got the UC from the Presonus site. I uninstalled McAfee and got a clean install with no error messages. The version I'm using is PreSonus_Universal_Control_v4_1_0_93124. I tried installing the previous version and got the same error message.

I'm running Win 11 home on a new ASUS laptop with an Intel i7-12700H @   2.30 GHz, with 16GB and 1TB drive.

Resolved. I was able disable the Realtek driver in Settings | Sound. I restarted Cakewalk, went into Properties, deselected Realtek, then the Presonus drivers were un-greyed allowing me to select them.
