No output of signal at the main output of audiobox 1824 without usb connection to laptop

I have connected my 1824 vsl to a mixer with the main output. I have not connected my 1824 vsl laptop with usb. Power button was red not blue. I have not got a signal output to the mixer. There was no signal at the headphone outputs, too!
