I just upgraded from a RM32ai to the newer 32R. After updating firmware and checking various things in UC Surface, I connected an external music source to the two RCA inputs on the back of the unit. I started playing some music and the two channels (31/32) are seeing the signal and both L/R meters are moving with the music (as are the meters in the upper windows for EQ etc.), however, I am not getting this at the Main output. I did select Main for those two channels (linked for stereo) but still do not see that at the Main output. There is currently nothing connected to the Main outputs on the back of the 32R. Do those XLR outputs need to be connected to speakers to see signal at the UC Surface Main output?
