I'm looking to invest in a new computer. Laptops don't seems to as functional as they once were and desk tops are to bulky to carry around.

The NUC seems to be the way to go for both worlds IMHO. Does anybody have an opinion on these little beast? and the Firewire Chip sets?

thanks, Bill

Intel NUC computers have not been qualified by PreSonus.

These computers are geared for High-End business applications, regardless of specs, generally do not perform for DAW / Real Time Processing environments. Power efficiency being one problem area.

Lack of expansion cards limits FireWire compatibility (and under powered systems also put FireWire out of the question). Some models do have ThunderBolt 3, but again, the eco-system of the computer may still not perform as expected.

Purchase with caution.
