I want to use my RM32ai as an interface to Logic Pro X.  Can this be done with a firewire cable and thunderbolt adapter?  Is there any firmware updates that I need for the computer to recognize the mixer as an interface?

Yes, you need to use the firewire connection on the mixer to your Mac.
