Akai Max49 and Studio on e 3: How do I map the pads to Impact (Drum Kit) and keys to a different instument like Piano?

I have tried to map my Akai  keyboard controller to work as a control surface, a keyboard, and a drum pad for the past several days. I can get it to work as controller and keyboard but then the pads are mapped to notes, or as an impact device with the keys mapped as a drum kit. I've tried configuring multiple instruments with different midi channels and programming the pads and keys to different midi channels to no avail. Is there a way to get the pads to act as a drum kit, the keys to act like a keyboard, and the controls to act as a control surface?

The Max49 would need to be able to specify which MIDI channel the piano keys and pads use, otherwise they both will be able to trigger whatever instrument you drop into a song.

If you can figure that out:

1. Create a New Keyboard for the Piano keys and only have it use MIDI channel 1.

2. Create another New Keyboard for the Drum pads and only if have it use MIDI Channel 10 for instance.

This will isolate those to certain channels. Hope that helps. If not, please submit a support ticket.
