I would like to konw, since there are two FireWire 800 ports on the back of the SL 16.4.2 AI, can I connect it to two MacBook laptops simultaneously via two firwire cables, one in charge of running Waves MultiRack Native, while the other one records multitrack recording with Logic? This might be the safest set for my CPUs if it is possible. Thanks

Or if the two firwire does not work, is there any other way I can achieve the goal, which is runnig two laptops simutaneously, one for Waves Plugins host while the other one record? Or some one have the experience of running them on the same laptop and turned our fine? O just do not want to have a laptop crash in the middle of a performance.

No, the firewire bus can not handle two computers/CPU's, but you can connect an external harddisk additionally and control it by your computer. The second firewire port is also used for cascading two SL AI boards.

If you don't want recording and processing happen on one computer, you need to add a Dante option card to your mixer and devide the tasks to two computers. Latency is not too important for recording, but for processing. There is some information about these themes in the knowledge base and in the Dante department of the forum.
