Using double BPM speed to record?

I am new at recording and currently recording my band. If recording at double BPM (e.g. 240 for 120), would this have any negative affect when adding to the entire song itself (midi instruments) or to anything afterwards during mix down and/or mastering?

I feel the doubling of BPMs would cause issues unless the entire song, and all of the BPM changes, are doubled respectively. Then, this could be treated as if at the normal BPM speed?

Much appreciated for any advice/thoughts/ideas.

Actually  for tighter mixes and recordings, you would want to do the opposite. Divide in half and work with more precision.
