Couldn't reply to the original post as this was chosen as best answer, which is a great idea. So, if I may add this morning's flash of inspiration here...

How about having a highlighter tool to mark any section (part/parts) in the sequence, and allows for notes. It would show the info when you hover the mouse over the highlight. (I think you see this idea in writing programmes.) It could be added to the pen selection tool, for example.

In this way it could be used to highlight problem sections to be fixed. This would give a map-like overview of the problems to be done. In deleting the highlight when the problem is fixed, the overview becomes less full of the highlights, and it gives a sense of how far you are in the finishing of the edits - and the song!

- The highlights would also show up on the folder track when it holds a track with a highlight, and is closed.

- there could be a small choice of highlighter colours.

- an example would be to highlight a bass section of 2 bars with a note to say, "correct timing to drums". Or a section of vocals with a note,"add delay just on this bit".

In this way, you could have inspirational ideas and quickly through them into the arrangement to try out later. Or go through the song with your editor's hat on and make notes as you listen, to be worked through later.

Enough already!

cheers,

Luke
