I am using an RM32 mixer with a CS18. I'd like to be able to digitally route any input or output to any channel I'd like. For example, I'd like to assign analog input 24 to be channel 1 without having to change any patching. Is this possible with my set up? If not, what would I need to make this happen?

The architecture of the RM boards does not allow free channel patching, a 1:1 routing is an intended and proven feature. But you may want to make this to a request (StudioLive Series Feature Requests). Probably a request like this is already there.

You can not change the order of input and output channels, but the DCA groups (filters) allow some flexibility for mixing. This is an alternative to the patching of channels, because with DCA Spill it doesn't matter where an input channel is located. DCA groups can also be used to organize returns.

Thank you for you answer Wahlerstudios. I will make a request. Do you know what the purpose of it being like that is? It seems like with every other digital mixer brand you are able to do that.

I have no idea. The inside architecture of the RM mixers is totally digital, so it should be no problem to implement input and output routing. On the other hand only professionals can really understand and use this feature. For amateurs it can be totally confusing. Are you really sure that routing is so common nowadays? As far as I know it looks like this:

X: No
M: No (only in blocks?)
Qu: No
DL: No
TF: No
QL: ?
CL: ?

You may correct or complete this list if you know more... ;-)
