NI Kontakt 11 plug-ins don't show in the browser

Hi everyone,

Recently I had to reinstall my Studio One 3 Artist due to a system crash. This is the second time I had to do this. Unfortunatelly, this time around the NI Instruments do not appear in the browser. I tried setting the VST plug-ins location manually, uninstalling and installing NI software, the usual suspects. It used to work automatically, but now it doesn't I also don't have any NI products in the transfers list, neither in the available Studio One downloads. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I use Presonuns Audiobox USB with the latest driver on an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K, 3.40GHz, 8 GB RAM, Windows 10 and trying to integrate Kontakt 11.

You need to make sure the VST plugins match the plugin folders bit rate for the StudioOne software you are using.

The StudioOne software version can be found on the "Start" page of StudioOne under the Studio One logo. It will list the version and bit rate depth there.

Please install the correct bit version VST software into the correct bit version file path of the Program Files on your PC. If the VST comes in a 64 bit version. The bit rates are not cross platform compatible, meaning a 32 bit version of a plug in will not run in the 64 bit version of Studio One and vise-versa.

So first confirm you have installed the 64 bit or 32 bit versions dll file of the plugin into the C:\Program Files\Vstplugins folder or in the C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins folder.

Now, IF the VST manufacturer does not have a 64 bit version you will need to run the Studio One 32 bit version to use that plugin. The 32 bit version of Studio One can be found in your "My Software" section of your account at

→ How to Install VST Plugins for use with StudioOne:

If your VST plugin has a setup or installation program you should run that. You may be given a prompt to indicate where to install the VST's .dll file. You will want to choose either:

 - For 32 bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins
 - For 64 bit: C:\Program Files\Vstplugins

Depending on the bit rate of StudioOne you are running.

• In some cases the installation of the dll file may default to a location other than the one that is in StudioOne by default, C:\Program Files\Vstplugins. In this case, you will need to add the location of the dll files installation location to StudioOne's VST scan list.

 - Under the  StudioOne → Options → Locations → VSTPlugins
 - You will see a button to add a location to StudioOne VSTPlugins.

• If your VST does not have a setup or installation program, then you will need to Unzip the downloaded file if it is an archive like .zip. You should see a file with a .dll extension. This is the actual file required for the plugin. In most circumstances a VST installer will prompt you to where it is installing the dll file, make sure to take note of this location or add that file to your VST plugins folder on your C drive.

 - For 32 bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins
 - For 64 bit: C:\Program Files\Vstplugins

• If Studio One is running, close it and restart it. When Studio One starts up, it will re-scan your plugins folder and detect your recently installed plugin.

• You may need to "reset the Black List" in the locations folder for VSTPlugins in StudioOne.

Remember to check for updates for your plugins first from their respective manufacturers if they are giving you problems. Updates could provide compatibility fixes on operating systems and Studio One.

--> IMPORTANT NOTE: Never add your Program Files folder to the VST Plugins window in StudioOne → Options → Locations → VSTPlugins, this will make your software crash. If you are unsure please ask tech support or the VST manufacturer for installation directions.
