Hello. I am trying to figure out why my guitar is clipping even with the gain turned "all the way" down on my Audiobox USB. Im just plugging straight into the interface. I am running at 64bit. I dont know if that has anything to do with it. It doesnt matter if Im using a plug-in amp or not, the signal straight out of my guitar clips. Its starting to drive me a little nuts. Gonna need some therapy if I dont figure this out soon. Dont know if it matters, but for all information, Im using both 7 string and 8 string guitars with passive pick ups. The interface is the AudioBox USB 2 and Im running Studio One Artist 3. Any and all advice and help is greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance.

you should have volume control at your guitar as well. if the problem is 'guitar sounds ok, but too loud input' that's the way to go.

on the other hand if the signal is moderate, but you have occasional spikes that are much louder, this is another situation. you may use a comp/limiter to cut these spikes. sometimes a hi-pass also will work. or something else, depending on the character and/or nature of these spikes.

Unlikely that I'll be able to answer this question myself, but I can think of some useful information that someone else might need.

1>Red LED's on AudioBox lighting up indicating input overload?

2>Signal indicator in software goes red? (mixing console)

3> Guitar just "sounds" clipped on playback?
