Is there a way to duplicate an instrument track so that it copies all of the settings of the previous track and plugin but with a completely independent new instance of that instrument plug-in? Now any changes made to the instrument on the duplicate track effect the original instance as well, which makes workflow difficult to layer instances of the same plugin that might need to have some of the exact same settings as prior instances.

Yes. When you right click to pull up the context menu on the track, there are two choices for duplicate:

1) "Duplicate Track"

2) "Duplicate Track(Complete)"

The first creates a second track with a shared instance of the instrument plug-in.

The second, "Duplicate Track (Complete)  creates a second track and also a new independent second instance of the plugin, copied from the existing one of the original track.
