Hi all,

I have running the Studio One Package with Audiobox 96 on Macbook Pro.

I am recording an acoustic guitar through the Presonus M7 Microphone. I am getting the levels through fine when recording however when playing back the recording the track is either stuttering or cracking. I have tried all different types of Sample rates (song setup menu) with different options from the Device Block size drop down menu (preferences>audio setup) but nothing seems to make a difference. I am unable to get a clean recording. Is there a standard sample rate and Khz I need to use or does it differ from each desktop? I assume it is a latency issue? I have also tried recording the track with the output monitoring volume turned off. Does the bit resolution make a difference too? Very new to all this so any help would be great.

Thanks

Depends a many things.

First rule out hardware issue.  Connect your AudioBox with new or different USB cable.  Test your AudioBox on another computer.  Does it have the same problem on another computer ?  If so, problem may be your AudioBox.

Open the Audio MIDI Setup from Utilities folder.  Set the AudioBox as the Sound Output Device.  Turn the Mixer Dail on the front of your AudioBox, all the way to the RIGHT.  Test audio playback using iTunes and or YouTube.  Do you have crackling ?

With your computer, depends of what version of OSX you are running.  Ensure you have the latest build of that version.  OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks, 10.10.5 Yosemite, 10.11.6 El Capitan, 10.12.6 Sierra.  Go to Apple website and look for Combo Updates for your version.  Very important to be on the current builds.

You could also try SMC and or NWRAM resets.

You could also try creating a new partition on your hardware and install current build of OSX on the new partition.  Test with this.  Same issues ?  If so, perhaps your computers hardware is at fault.

You can contact Apple Support for assistance with much if not all of this.

You should also contact Presonus Support for further assistance as well.
