Hey PreSonus!

I love studio one, and recently have gotten into producing audiobooks for clients with it!  I'm finding that as I'm recording them, I'll drop a marker where mistakes happen.  As I go through and make edits, tightening up any dead space, sliding and dragging regions of audio, my markers just stay in place, and there's no real intuitive way of moving them with my audio regions at the same time.

For now I'm "eyeballing" where the markers are, then moving the region where I need it, and then dragging the marker to where I think it was before, in relation to that audio region.

In some cases I have to cut out all mistakes before, I start making any fine-tuning edits because of having dropped quite a few markers, and moving them 1 by 1 would be a pain.

So, my point is, it would be nice if I could "lock" specific markers to specific regions, so that if I move the region, the marker moves across the time line with it, no more re-positioning needed.  Maybe the marker could then take on the same color as the region it's locked to, to indicate that it is indeed "locked"?

UPDATE 12/3:

in response to brockstallworth's answer below:

Where in the professional version do we have this option?  I have the Professional version...what's the process/menu command, or way you have to select your items?  When I select both the region and the marker, I can't move either???

UPDATE 5/25/18:

With the release of Studio One 4, We now have that really cool feature called Ripple edit, that works a lot like Pro Tools "Shuffle Mode"...

If in Ripple Edit mode, when you delete a section of a region and the disjointed regions automatically close up the empty gap and join together, it would be cool if the "magnetic markers" automatically moved with the region they are locked to. In addition, it would also be cool if, when moved, the "magnetic markers" could also show you the original time code they were moved from.

I see this being useful when editing audiobooks for clients and they tell me something like:

Please cut out the following parts:

1:02 - 2:13

3:15 - 3:25

4:57 - 8:59

If I make the first cut 1:02 - 2:13 in ripple edit mode, and don't have the original time code references in the "magnetic markers", that makes the rest of their edit list a lot harder to work on because all the rest of the times are thrown off.  Not so when original time codes are referenced!

Hey Brock,

I watched the videos...This is a great feature, thanks for sharing, however the arranger track is not what I'm referring to.  That's good for music where you're dealing with bars and beats and phrases in a song, not so much for isolated mistakes when recording an audiobook, where this no beat to keep, only spoken word.

What I'm asking for, again, is for the markers themselves to have the option to be "fixed/anchored" to a certain point on a region, so that if I click a region and move it, that marker moves with it.

If anyone else knows of a true option to do this, I'd much like to learn how!

Big plus for this request from me as well. I work on audio books too, and know exactly the frustration you get with the markers.
