The PreSonus Studio 6|8 shows an extra stereo output 5/6(S/PDIF) in my DAW. Can I send it to the headphone output?

Sorry to ask the same question twice, but I really wantto be sure I'm checking all my options and this is not possible with the PreSonus Studio 6|8, since other interfaces are way more expensive:

With the PreSonus Studio 6|8 I do see an extra stereo output 5/6(S/PDIF) in Logic. Doesn't this mean I can use the extra stereo output 5/6 as a separate channel for the click?

Thanks so much again in advantage for your answer!

Best regards,

Jordy

Yes. SPDIF Output 5/6 is another assignable output in your DAW, just that it is hardwired to the RCA Coax SPDIF Jack on the back of the unit coming from the pigtail. You'll need a D/A SPDIF converter or studio monitors with a SPDIF Input to decode the signal to analog audio.

The Studio 6|8 get's it's name from the number of I/O:

  • For the 6 inputs, 4 analog, 1/2, 3/4, SPDIF 5/6
  • For the 8 outputs, 4 analog, Main L/R, Line Out 3/4, SPDIF 5/6, Headphone 7/8
