I recently bought a SW5E AVB switch for my RM series mixers. I noticed that is clearly states it works in BOTH eco-systems, AVB 1722 (RM/AI) and 1722.1(Series III) even though the two systems will not communicate together.

It would be excellent if PreSonus (or a hired 3rd party) came out with a software app that can map out everything going through the switch -- i.e both AVB 1722 and 1722.1 (similar to other systems such AudioScience HONO Avb which can read and combine BOTH - http://www.audioscience.com/internet/products/avb/hono_avb_controller.htm). Unfortunately I have already tried this software with the SW5E and it does not even see it... very odd since it SHOULD be AVB 1722.1 compliant.

Will there be any firmware updates for the SW5E?

The SW5E does not 'show up' in an AVB AVDECC controller software, nor should it.

The switch simply passes the network traffic. Only an actual AVB enabled audio device would be discoverable by the software, as it has streams / channels available for mapping. The switch has no channels, it has no streams. It is not mappable.

The AI system is a closed system and will not be updated for 1722.1 operation due to limitations in the 3rd party AVB chipset that was used. This goes beyond PreSonus development, unfortunately.
