In between loving using Studio One for the last few months, one thing that has driven me mad is the inability to place the console channels created from the multi outs of an instrument in the order you chose.

I use addictive drums for my drum tracks and like to use the multiple outputs to have my individual drum elements (like Kick, Snare, Toms, Overheads etc) on different mix channels so I can treat them like a real mic’d drum kit. I also like to use the Flexi slots to double the kick and snare, so I can create channels for Kick beater and kick front, and snare top and bottom, and treat these on separate tracks.

As a preference on the console the order I would like to end up with is Kick Beater, Kick Front, Snare Top, Snare Bottom, the Toms, Hat, Overheads and Room. But because in Studio One I have to have the tracks in the order that the instrument determines, I have to have the order as Kick Beater, Snare Top, Hat, Toms, Kick Front, Snare Bottom, Overheads, Room. They lock together as a group, preserving the order, and not allowing bus tracks to be dropped in (for example if I want to group the Toms)

To get around this, I am creating a separate busses for each drum track, and then routing the instrument channels to them, and then hiding the originals. Which takes a while to set up, and adds a whole bunch of unnecessary tracks to the console. It would be amazing to get this sorted.

Aside from me being a bit OCD about the order of my tracks, I know people who like to group their tracks together by frequency (for example, putting Kick, bass, cello together) so I can’t just be me who would benefit from this.

Thanks
