Hi hive mind,

I'm curious about Presonus AudioBox 44VSL, since those fly around second hand every now and then and they would fit the bill for me.

I can't find any information however about if I can run multiple ASIO programs at once with it. Focusrite and I think RME do offer an ASIO server for windows, but Presonus, not so sure about it.

This is a different thing than using ReWire. Some interfaces apparently allow using multiple separate ASIO applications on Windows through ASIO server integrated into driver. Some interfaces then again don't allow that, but still allow using WDM drivers simultaneously with ASIO drivers, thus permitting DAW and f.ex. media player or web browser to play back sound at the same time. And some interfaces just lock their whole system for ASIO use and don't allow any other access to the interface than one app at time when operating under ASIO.

There was a thread here that hinted towards it, but it didn't specify if the multi client functionality provides simultaneous ASIO apps or ASIO and other, like WDM, clients. Additionally, there was an user who reported that his multi client functionality is not working.

So, should I expect true ASIO multi client from Presonus AudioBox 44VSL or not?

Cheers! Thanks if you can spread the information!

P.S. There seems to be no way to reply to your answers, so I can't reply the questions directly. However I have now updated this question to reflect the answer from aka_busker, thank you for your contribution!

Hi,

When you say "multiple asio" do you mean like rewire for melodyne/ repear / reason is supported so you can run those inside Studio One or are you talking about using Studio One at the same time as Cakewalk, for instance?

I use the audiobox vsl44 with Studio One Pro (which I use daily) and have Cakewalk but haven't used it much.  I have used Studio One for about 4 years exclusively and have only just gotten around to using Cakewalk.  It does recognise the box and want to use all the input and outputs.

As for Rewire with reason and reaper - I can't offer much advice yet as I am only just getting around to trying it.  Version 3 seems more stable with it from what I have seen.  I was trying it tonight with issues.  Could be the version I am using.

Hope that helps some.
