I bought the 3.5's as my first studio monitor pair earlier this week. I connected everything and the right monitor seems MUCH quieter than the left one. The volume knob has to be turned up very high to get a small amount of sound to come out of the right monitor. Is this a possible defect or am I doing something wrong?

Hi.

Of course, it could be a defect, but there might be other things also. Have you swapped speakers to see if there is a difference? Not the cables but the speakers? I had a situation in an apartment where my right speaker was closer to a corner of the room and that completely sucked the volume out of the speaker. I tried swapping the cables to no effect and was going to send them back. Someone suggested I swap the speakers and they both exhibited the same behavior on the right. I moved my mixing desk away from the corner as far as I could, and another foot or so from the wall and that helped a lot. Good luck with solving your problem.

Hi

This is not an answer but me also wondering if you ever found a solution to your problem as I’m currently going through the exact same thing with no hope

I had the same problem and I did exactly what @kgabanemohlaudi suggested and voila, I had the same result! So the issue is not the speakers, but the location where they are. I'm also on the corner of a room, the wall is to my left, there is a shelve on the left as well. I'll need to leave with it.
