Best way to record individual tracks with FX (via FXA/B) with Ableton Live - Dig Out doesn't seem to work

Hi folks

Firstly, i have absolutely no doubt that this question has been asked in some way shape or form already, however I cannot find a solution on here or via the manual (but i have looked!).  Please excuse me for asking if this has already popped up.

I'm using a Studio Live 16.0.2 to process a load of synths and modular bits before they're recorded via individual tracks in Ableton 10.1 (running on a Mac).

All i want to do is record the selected FX A/B from each channel on the desk to Ableton.  ie, track 1 is a modular system and i'd like to record the reverb from the desk and the modular system via a single track in Ableton 10.1.  Currently it's just recording the dry signal.

I have tried post dig on each channel and the signal is still dry.  As far as I can make out from the manual, I can send FX A/B to the main output or to AUX1-4.

Maybe what I'm looking to do just can't happen.  Please help!

Thanks a million

Jonny

"The StudioLive 16.0.2’s built-in 16x16 multitrack recording interface is tightly integrated with the rest of the mixer ... All 16 channels continuously stream to your FireWire-connected Mac or PC" (from the product description). It's basic recording 101 that you can record channel 1 to track 1 and playback track 1 to channel 1 (and so on). Stereo buses like effects or Mains are recorded to additional / separate tracks. It's technically simply not possible to route an effect to an input channel.

Usually you would not want to hear effects added to a track while recording. This belongs to the process of mixing in a DAW. If you really want recording with effects, you have to get an external effect device and run your keyboard through it.
