Hi,

I had the same problem on my Macbook Pro - OS Catalina 10.15.4. It seems to come from the "hosts" file.
Here's how:

1) Find the "hosts" file: Macintosh HD> private> etc> hosts
(These are hidden folders. You can find different ways to view your Mac's hidden folders and files on the internet. Personally, I use Onyx software.)

2) Copy and paste the "hosts" file on your desktop and open it with TextEdit.

3) There will be lines with the PreSonus mention preceded by an IP addressDelete these lines and only these. Save.

4) Copy and paste the new "hosts" file from your desktop into the folder: Macintosh HD> private> etc and replace the old one. Enter your administrator password and validate.

5) Open Studio One 4 and log in. It should work now.

Enjoy ;)

davidvableeuwen1 has hit the nail on the head and saved my bacon. I've just bought the Faderport 8 and could not login to Universal Control. For some reason the hosts file gives a loopback IP (localhost 127.0.0.1) address to the presonus servers.

An easy way to edit the host file on a Mac is to run Terminal and enter:

sudo nano /private/etc/hosts

Hit enter. You'll then be asked for your password, enter that in and press enter

Your hosts file opens in Terminal. Use the up & down keys to navigate to the line that show presonus. If you are at all unsure about what you are doing the safest thing is to simply comment out each line just by entering # at the stat (it must be the first character on the line). Once you are done press Control+X to exit and you'll be prompted to save it. Say yes to save. Job done. Log into Universal Control and enjoy.

Thanks to davidvanleeuwen1 for posting this.

(To locate the Hosts file on Mac:

  1. Select Go Go to Folder… from the Mac menu bar.
  2. Type in /private/etc/hosts.
  3. Click Go.)
