The Capture button shows below the Fx button on UC on the MaMini, and I can control the transport, etc of Capture with UC; however, the Capture button does not show on the corresponding screen on the UC Surface on the iPad. I've tried loading UCSurface after Capture is active on UC-MacMini, as well.as activating Capture after UC Surface and UC-MacMini are linked - but without success

NB - UC on the macMini and UCSurface on the iPad seem to be well linked as when capture is playing back, the channel meters on the UC Surface on the iPad move up and down appropriately., and moving the faders on the iPad controls the volumes on both the MacMini and the StudioLive 32SX. 's on each channel. Is there something else I need to do to get the Capture button to appear on the iPad so that I can control the transport function of Capture from the iPad?

Thanks again for your ongoing help

Paul

I am also using a Mac mini and there is an iPad2 with the 3.0.1 version of UC Surface. As soon as the Mac mini (OS 10.9.5) connects to the router (Control Network), the Capture symbol shows up. But it may disappear again, I mean, it will. This is different with a Win 10 laptop and an iPad5. Capture is present all the time in UC Surface. I use this combination live. I don't take Mac mini and iPad2 out anymore... ;-)

Do you have the chance to use another iPad? I have heard that a few iPad models do not show full functionality of UC Surface.

Just to add this here: iPad mini and iPad Air are known as being problematical. Try to find someone with a "normal" iPad... ;-)
