Here are my ideas for a new Thunderbolt 3 "Quantum 3 42x48".
-Two Thunderbolt 3 ports
-Rear panel looks like a mashup between the DP88 and the original Quantum (see image)
-Direct out -> ADC in can work like an insert (e.g. enabling the ADC in does not disable the mic preamp circuit)
-4 combo XLRs are mirrored to the DB25s for mic and line inputs on the back respectively. Using combo XLR bypasses those channels on the DB25, or select-able in UC.
-4 pairs of ADATs for 16 channel input at 96/88.2kHz or 32 channel input at 44.1/48kHz (proven bandwidth capable over thunderbolt by Quantum 4848) (up to four DP88s could be connected @44.1/48kHz!)
-Front panel power button
-Remote controlled XMAX Preamps
-The same Burr Brown converters as original Quantum
-Priced sub $2000
This would make a serious contender in the Thunderbolt interface field of competition!
